Short Paragraph on Flood Scene

A flood scene is a very sad and terrible sight. When rivers overflow their banks during heavy rain, water covers the fields, roads and villages. The flood scene that I saw last year in our village is still fresh in my memory. The sky was covered with dark clouds, and it rained continuously for three days. The river rose slowly at first, and then the water spread over the fields like a big lake. Soon the roads went under water, and people moved to higher places with their belongings. Many houses were damaged, and some were completely washed away. The cattle stood in knee-deep water, and the poor people lost their crops, their homes and everything they had. Boats moved along the roads instead of cars, and people rescued their neighbours with great difficulty. Food and clean drinking water became very scarce. Children cried with hunger and fear. Relief workers came with food packets, medicines and dry clothes. The scene taught me how helpless human beings are before nature. After the water went down, the village was covered with mud and dirt. It took many days for life to become normal again.

Last year I witnessed such a flood scene in my village, and the memory of that terrible day is still vivid in my mind. The rain began on a dark Tuesday night and continued without any pause for three days. The river, which normally flows calmly, swelled hour after hour, and soon its muddy water burst over the fields and submerged everything in its path. Within a single day, the green fields of paddy, the narrow village roads and the low-lying houses all disappeared under a vast sheet of dirty water. The scene was one of complete chaos. People ran here and there, carrying their children, their money and their few precious belongings on their heads. Many left their homes in boats and took shelter on the higher ground near the school. The cattle stood helplessly in the water, and the ducks and hens were swept away by the strong current. Crops, which are the lifeblood of our farmers, were destroyed in a few hours, and stored rice, furniture and household goods were ruined by water. Food and pure drinking water became extremely scarce, and disease began to spread among the people. Yet in this terrible situation, the spirit of humanity shone brightly. The young men of the village used their boats to rescue old people, women and children. The government sent relief supplies of food, medicine and clothing, and kind-hearted people from nearby towns donated money and dry food. The flood scene also revealed the helplessness of human beings before the forces of nature, and it taught us that we should build houses on safe ground, plant trees on the riverbanks and remain prepared for such disasters. It was a scene of sorrow, suffering and struggle, but also a scene of sympathy and brotherhood that I will never forget.
