Winter is one of the six seasons of Bangladesh. It comes after autumn and lasts from November to February. In winter, the weather becomes cold and dry. The nights are long and the days are short. In the morning, a thick fog covers the whole world, and drops of dew hang from the leaves of grass like pearls. The sun rises late and gives little warmth. People wear warm clothes like sweaters, shawls, and jackets. Children love winter very much because they can eat many delicious foods. Dates of Khulna, juicy oranges, and sweet sugarcane are available in this season. Pitha, payesh, and khichuri made by mothers taste wonderful in the cold weather. Different kinds of vegetables grow in plenty, and farmers are happy with their crops. Winter is also the season of flowers; the golden mustard fields look like a sea of yellow. Winter Season Essay (For Classes 9, 10, SSC)

~313 words

Winter is the coldest season of the year, and in Bangladesh it is one of the six seasons. It begins with the end of autumn and continues from the middle of November to the middle of February. The winter season is marked by cold weather, dry air, and morning fog. The sun rises late and sets early, so the days are short and the nights are long. In the early morning, a white blanket of fog covers the fields and villages, and dewdrops glitter on the grass like tiny pearls. Farmers cannot go out to the fields before the fog clears, and labourers warm their hands by the roadside fire. The temperature drops so low in the northern districts that people wrap themselves in blankets day and night. Winter brings a rich harvest for the farmers. Paddy is reaped in this season, and the fields turn golden. Vegetables of every kind grow in abundance, and the markets remain full of green cauliflower, cabbage, and tomato. Winter is also the season of delicious foods; people enjoy khichuri, pitha, payesh, and date juice, and the sweet dates of Khulna are famous all over the country. Children and young people enjoy winter picnics, and thousands of migratory birds come to the haors of Sylhet, making the season more beautiful. However, winter has its dark side as well. The poor suffer most because they cannot afford warm clothes, and many of them die of cold every year. Diseases like cold, cough, pneumonia, and fever spread quickly in this season. Despite all these hardships, winter is a favourite season of the people of Bangladesh because of its beauty, its food, and its festivals. The poet feels the season in the morning mist, the farmer sees it in the golden paddy, and the child tastes it in sweet pitha. Winter is truly the season of joy, plenty, and beauty.
