My Village Essay

My village is a beautiful little village on the bank of the river Padma. It is named Kalikapur, and about two thousand people live in it. The village is full of green trees, ponds, and fields of paddy. Most of the villagers are farmers who work in the fields, while some are fishermen, potters, and shopkeepers. The houses in my village are made of mud and straw, with walls of bamboo, and every house has a garden of vegetables and fruit trees. There is a small bazaar, a primary school, and a madrasa in the village. The villagers are simple, honest, and hardworking, and they live together in peace and harmony. Although there is no electricity or paved road in my village, the fresh air, the green fields, and the kindness of the people make it a very pleasant place to live. I love my village very much.

The village is surrounded on one side by the wide river and on the other sides by green fields of paddy, jute, and vegetables, which change their colour with the seasons. The houses of the villagers, built of mud, bamboo, and straw, stand under the shade of mango, jackfruit, and banyan trees, and almost every house has a small garden of its own. The people of my village are mostly farmers, fishermen, and weavers; they are simple, honest, and hardworking, and they help one another in times of joy and sorrow. There is a primary school, a madrasa, and a small bazaar in the village, and during festivals like Eid, Pahela Boishakh, and the rice harvest the whole village rejoices together. The natural beauty of the village is beyond description: in the morning the fields look like a green sea, in the evening the smoke rises slowly from the huts, and at night the sky is full of stars which are rarely seen in the town. The life of the villagers is not free from hardships, for there is no electricity, no paved road, and no modern hospital, and during the rainy season the muddy paths become almost impassable. In spite of these difficulties, the people are contented, and their simple life has taught me honesty, patience, and the value of hard work. When I think of the fresh air, the green fields, the kind villagers, and the peaceful nights, I feel that my village is the best place on earth, and I always long to return to it.
