Rainy Season Essay Paragraph

The rainy season is one of the six seasons of Bangladesh, and it comes after the summer. It begins in the month of Ashar and lasts till Srabon, so it is also called the Ashar-Srabon season. The sky remains covered with dark clouds, and rain falls day and night. Rivers, ponds and canals become full of water, and the fields look fresh and green. The farmers are very happy in this season because rain helps the paddy to grow. Children also love the rain. They make paper boats and float them in the water, and they dance and sing in joy. But the rainy season brings some problems too. Roads become muddy and slippery, and people cannot move easily. Water gets logged in the streets, and sometimes rivers overflow and cause floods. Many villages go under water, and people suffer a lot. Diseases like cold, fever and malaria also spread in this season. Still, the rainy season is the most beautiful and useful season of the year because it gives us water for life.

It comes after the scorching heat of summer, when the sun burns the earth and everything becomes dry and dusty. The rainy season starts with the month of Ashar, and for about two months, until the end of Srabon, the south-west monsoon winds bring heavy rain to the country. The sky is always covered with dark, heavy clouds, and the sound of thunder and the flash of lightning become common. Rain falls in torrents, sometimes for days without stopping. Rivers, canals, ponds and haors become full to the brim, and the whole country looks like a sea of green. The rainy season is the life of Bangladesh. The farmers wait for this season with great hope, because the rain waters their fields and the Aus and Aman paddy grows well. Jute, the golden fibre of our country, also grows in this season. The ponds and rivers become full of fish, and our people get plenty of fish to eat. Nature looks fresh and lovely, and poets have written many beautiful poems about the rainy season. But this season has a dark side as well. Waterlogging makes the roads muddy and difficult to walk on. People cannot go to work, and children cannot go to school. Sometimes heavy rain causes devastating floods which wash away houses, crops and cattle. Many people lose everything and suffer from hunger and disease. The rainy season also spreads water-borne diseases like cholera, typhoid and malaria. So the government should build good drainage systems and river embankments to reduce the suffering. In spite of all its problems, the rainy season is the king of seasons for the farmers and the most charming season for the poets.
