Short Paragraph on Deforestation

Deforestation means cutting down trees in large numbers and clearing forests. It is one of the biggest dangers to our planet. Trees give us oxygen, food, wood and shade, and they keep the air clean. They are the home of many birds, animals and insects. But today forests are being cut down very fast. People cut trees to make furniture, paper and houses, and farmers clear forests to make new fields. Sometimes greedy people sell the wood for money. Deforestation harms us in many ways. Without trees, the soil is washed away by rain and the land becomes dry. The level of carbon dioxide increases in the air, and the earth becomes hotter. Birds and animals lose their homes, and many of them are disappearing from the earth. Floods, droughts and storms also increase when forests are destroyed. We must stop deforestation to save our planet. We should plant more trees and take care of them, and the government should make strict laws to protect our forests. Remember, trees are our best friends, and a world without trees cannot survive.

Forests are cleared to make room for agriculture, roads, industries and new towns, and in many places greedy people cut trees illegally to earn quick money. The effects of deforestation are terrible and far-reaching. When forests disappear, the amount of oxygen in the air decreases and the amount of carbon dioxide increases, which causes the temperature of the earth to rise. This is called global warming, and it leads to the melting of polar ice and the rise of sea levels. Without the roots of trees to hold the soil, heavy rain washes away the fertile topsoil, causing floods and making the land barren. Rivers and dams fill up with mud, and droughts become common in many regions. Deforestation also destroys the natural homes of countless birds, animals and insects, and many species have already become extinct because of this. In Bangladesh, the cutting of trees in the Sundarbans, the home of the Royal Bengal Tiger, is a matter of great concern. We must take immediate steps to stop deforestation. The government should make and enforce strict laws against illegal tree cutting, and offenders should be punished severely. New forests should be planted in place of the old ones, and every citizen should plant at least one tree every year and take care of it. We should also reduce the use of paper and wood and encourage the use of recycled products. Trees are the guardians of our environment, and saving them means saving ourselves and the future generations. If we fail to protect our forests today, our children will have no clean air, no rain and no life tomorrow.
