My Grandmother Essay

My grandmother is the most loving person in our family. She is seventy years old, but she is still active and cheerful. Her hair has turned grey, and she has a few teeth missing, but her face always shines with love. She wears a simple white saree and keeps a smile on her lips. My grandmother is the heart of our home. She tells us interesting stories of her young days and of our village. Every night my brother and I sit beside her to listen to her stories. She wakes up early in the morning and does her prayers and small works herself. She loves to cook and often makes my favourite rice cakes and pithas. Whenever I am sad, she pats my head and gives me courage. She gives advice to everyone in the family and settles our little quarrels. My grandmother loves me more than anybody else. I always want to see her happy. I pray to Allah for her long life and good health, because my grandmother is a treasure to our family.

She is not very tall, and she is a little weak, yet she walks slowly through the house with a smile on her face. She wears a simple white saree and keeps everything neat around her.

My grandmother is the centre of our family. Everybody in the house loves and respects her. She is very religious and honest. She wakes up early in the morning, says her prayers and reads the Holy Quran. She never forgets to pray for the good health of all the members of the family. My grandmother is a very good story teller. At night, my brother, my sister and I sit around her and listen to her stories. She tells us fairy tales, stories of her childhood and stories about our village. Her stories are so interesting that we never feel sleepy. She is also a very good cook. She makes my favourite pithas, rice cakes and kheer. When I come back from school, she always asks about my lessons and my teachers. She gives me good advice about studies and behaviour. Whenever I do any mistake, she does not scold me, but she tells me lovingly how to correct myself. My grandmother also helps my mother in the household work. She is loved by all the neighbours, and they often come to seek her advice.

I love my grandmother very much. She is like a bright lamp in our family. Her simple life, patience and love teach us good lessons every day. I always try to make her happy. I pray to Allah to keep her in good health for many long years, because our home is beautiful only because of her.
