In a developing country, technical education plays an important role in reducing unemployment, since it produces skilled workers who are in demand across many industries. Governments and schools should invest more in technical education to give students practical alternatives to purely academic degrees.

Technical education is a form of learning that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in a specific trade or skill, such as electrical wiring, computer hardware, welding, or agricultural machinery. Its main goal is to prepare students for direct employment or self-employment, rather than solely for further academic study. In many countries, including Bangladesh, technical and vocational institutes offer diploma courses that run alongside the traditional education system, giving students a practical alternative to general degrees. The benefits are significant: graduates often find jobs more quickly than those with only general academic qualifications, because industries constantly need skilled technicians, electricians, and machine operators. For a country still developing its industrial base, this kind of practical training helps reduce unemployment and supports economic growth. Despite these advantages, technical education is sometimes seen as less prestigious than university education, which discourages some capable students from choosing it.
