Short Paragraph on a Rainy Day

A rainy day is a day when the sky is full of dark clouds and it rains heavily. In Bangladesh such days are common in the rainy season. On a rainy day the sun hides behind the clouds, and cool wind blows all around. People open their umbrellas and walk carefully on the wet roads. School children are very happy on a rainy day because the school sometimes remains closed. When I stay at home on a rainy day, I sit near the window and watch the rain falling on the leaves and the roof. The sound of rain is very sweet. Drops of rain fall on the pond, and the water ripples softly. The fields become green and fresh. Farmers are the happiest because rain gives water to their crops. But too much rain is also bad. It fills the roads with water, and poor people suffer. Still, a rainy day has a special charm, and I love to watch it from my window with a cup of hot tea.

A rainy day is a day of heavy rain, dark clouds, and cool air. In Bangladesh the rainy season lasts from June to September, and rainy days are very common then. On such a day the sky turns grey and dark. Thick black clouds cover the sun, and sometimes thunder roars and lightning flashes across the sky. A cool wind blows, and soon big drops of rain begin to fall. At first the drops fall slowly, and then the rain comes down like a curtain. The roads become muddy and slippery. People hurry home with umbrellas and raincoats. The rickshaws and buses carry wet passengers, and school students wrap their books in plastic.

Children love a rainy day for many reasons. If the rain continues, schools remain closed, and we get a day of rest. We sit near the window and watch the rain, or we make paper boats and float them in the water. Sometimes mother fries hot snacks, and we enjoy them with tea. A rainy day makes the whole village beautiful. The trees look fresh and green, the paddy fields shine like silver, and the ponds fill with water. Farmers are very happy because their crops get the water they need. But a rainy day also brings trouble. Roads flood, buses get late, and people who live in low areas suffer a lot. Rickshaw pullers and poor labourers lose their daily earning when the rain pours all day. In spite of all this, a rainy day is charming. It cools the hot earth and gives new life to nature, and I always enjoy its coolness and beauty.
