Short Paragraph on Alone at Home

There are times when my parents have to go out, and I stay alone at home. It is a strange but interesting feeling. Last Saturday my parents went to a wedding, and I stayed home alone. At first I felt very happy because I could do whatever I liked. I watched my favourite cartoons and played with my toys. Then I did my homework neatly. I also helped a little by watering the plants and closing the windows. After some time the house felt very quiet. I began to feel lonely and wished my parents would come back soon. The sound of the clock ticked loudly in the silent room. I called my mother on her mobile phone, and she said they were coming soon. When they returned, I ran to them and hugged them. I realised that a house feels empty without family, and our parents are the most precious people in our life.

Staying alone at home can be both fun and scary. Sometimes my parents have to go to the market or attend a programme, and I stay alone for a few hours. Last Saturday my parents went to the village to see my sick grandmother, and I had to stay alone at home for the whole day. My mother left lunch for me in the fridge and told me to be careful. At first I felt very happy. I watched television, listened to my favourite songs, and played video games. Nobody told me to do homework, and nobody stopped me from eating snacks. It felt like I was the king of the house.

But after some time the fun faded. The house became very quiet. I could hear only the ticking of the clock and the barking of a dog far away. Strange sounds made me afraid, and I checked the doors and windows again and again. I remembered my mother’s advice to stay safe and not to open the door for strangers. I also fed our pet cat and watered the plants, just as she had asked. I made myself a cup of tea and read a storybook to keep calm. I called my mother on the phone, and I felt much better after hearing her voice. When my parents came back in the evening, I ran and hugged them. That day I learned that freedom is sweet, but the love of family is sweeter. Staying alone taught me to be brave and responsible.
