Paragraph on Patriotism

Patriotism is the love and respect that we feel for our own country. A true patriot loves his motherland from the core of his heart. He is always ready to work for the welfare of his nation. A patriotic person never does anything that brings shame to his country. He respects the national flag, the national anthem and all the customs of his nation.

A patriotic student studies hard because he knows that an educated nation is a strong nation. He keeps the roads clean, saves trees and obeys the rules of the society. In the time of need, a patriot stands by his country. Many brave soldiers have given their lives to protect the freedom of their homeland. We should always remember their sacrifice.

Patriotism is not about hating other countries. It is about loving our own country and working for its progress. Every citizen can be patriotic in his own simple way. A farmer who grows crops for the nation, a teacher who builds good students and a worker who works honestly, all of them serve the country. If we all do our duties properly, our country will surely be a better place to live.

Patriotism means the sincere love and loyalty that a person shows towards his or her own country. It is a noble quality that makes a man think about his nation before himself. A patriot always wishes for the progress and honour of his motherland. He is proud of his culture, language and history, and he works hard to keep them alive.

A true patriot does not need to fight on the battlefield only. There are many quiet ways to serve the country. A doctor who treats poor patients, a teacher who makes good citizens, a student who studies with devotion and a farmer who produces food for the nation, all of them are patriots in their own way. Even a small child can show patriotism by keeping his surroundings clean and by obeying the laws of the country.

The history of Bangladesh is full of patriotic people. Our brave sons laid down their lives in 1952 for our mother tongue. In 1971, lakhs of freedom fighters fought a great war and won our independence. Their sacrifice shows how deep the love for the motherland can be. We can never forget their great contribution. We should pay respect to them and try to follow their example.

However, patriotism should never mean hatred for other nations. Every country has its own right to exist. A true patriot respects his own country and also respects the freedom of others. Blind patriotism often leads to conflict and destruction, so we must be careful about it.

So we can say that patriotism is a virtue that every citizen should practise. We can show our love for the country through our simple daily actions. We should keep our country clean, speak the truth and do our duties honestly. If every citizen works for the nation with a pure heart, no power can stop the progress of the country. Patriotism makes a nation united, strong and proud.
