Short Paragraph on a Funny Incident

One funny incident of my life still makes me laugh. It happened during my summer vacation when I was eight years old. My grandmother came to stay with us for a few days. One afternoon she was knitting and her spectacles fell from the table. I wanted to help her, so I looked under the table but could not find them. Then my grandmother began to search her handbag, her bed, and the kitchen, but the spectacles were nowhere. She was very worried because without them she could not see properly. After some time, my mother came and looked at grandmother and burst out laughing. The spectacles were on my grandmother’s forehead all the time. Grandmother touched her forehead and felt shy, and we all laughed together. Even grandmother joined the laughter at last. Since that day, whenever my grandmother loses something, my father jokes that it is surely on her forehead. This small incident taught me that we often look for things that are right before our eyes. It is one of my favourite funny memories.

Many funny incidents have happened in my life, but one incident is still the funniest of all. It took place about six years ago during the summer vacation. My grandmother, whom we all call Dadi, came to stay at our house. Dadi is very loving but also very forgetful. That afternoon she was sitting on her bed, knitting a sweater for me. I was sitting nearby, playing with my toy car.

Suddenly Dadi took off her spectacles and placed them on her head so that she could see the thread clearly. After a little while, she finished one line of knitting and wanted to read the marks on the paper. She looked for her spectacles on the table, but they were not there. She checked her handbag, her pillow, and even under the bed. The spectacles were nowhere to be found. She became tense and said, “What a bad day! My spectacles are lost and I cannot read a single word.”

I also joined the search. I looked behind the curtain, inside the almirah, and in the kitchen, but there was no trace of the spectacles. We searched for almost half an hour. Dadi was about to cry because without spectacles she cannot see clearly. Just then my mother came into the room. She looked at Dadi and began to laugh loudly. We did not understand why. Then mother pointed at Dadi’s head, and we saw the spectacles sitting quietly on her forehead.

Everyone in the room burst out laughing. Dadi touched her forehead and felt very shy. She laughed too and said, “I am really growing old.” Since that day, my father has a new joke. Whenever Dadi loses something, he says, “Check your forehead first!” Dadi laughs and says, “You are a naughty boy.” This funny incident always makes us happy, and it taught me that we should laugh at our small mistakes instead of becoming angry.
