Paragraph on My Hobby: Reading

Reading is my favourite hobby. A hobby is something we do in our free time for joy, and reading gives me more joy than anything else. I began reading when I was in class two. My mother gave me a small storybook, and since then I have loved books. My hobby has many benefits. Reading gives me new knowledge, improves my vocabulary, and keeps my mind active. I read storybooks, fairy tales, adventure stories, and simple magazines. My favourite writer is Satyajit Ray, and I enjoy his detective stories. When I read, I enter a new world full of kings, heroes, and mysteries. In my free time, I sit in a quiet corner of my room and read for an hour. Books are my best friends because they never complain and always teach me something new. Reading also helps me in my studies. My teachers are happy because my composition and word power have improved. I collect books with my pocket money and borrow some from the school library. My hobby of reading is simple but very useful, and I want to continue it for my whole life.

Everyone has some favourite pastime, and my favourite pastime is reading books. Reading is my hobby, and it has been a part of my life since my childhood. I clearly remember the day my mother brought me a small picture storybook. The colourful pictures and the simple words attracted me so much that I wanted more books. From that day, reading became my daily habit.

Now I read different kinds of books. I love adventure stories, fairy tales, detective novels, and short stories. I also read newspapers, magazines, and books on science and history. My favourite writer is Satyajit Ray, and I never miss any of his books. His detective Feluda is my hero. When I read his stories, I feel that I am solving the mystery with Feluda myself.

I usually read in the evening after finishing my homework. I sit in a quiet corner of my room with a cup of tea and open my book. Sometimes I read so long that my mother has to remind me about dinner. During holidays, I spend most of my time with books. I have a small library at home, and I take care of my books very well. I cover them with paper and never fold the pages.

My hobby has given me many benefits. Reading has increased my knowledge and improved my vocabulary. My teachers are surprised at my good writing. I can speak and write English better because I read storybooks in English. Reading also removes my loneliness and keeps me away from bad habits like wasting time on useless things.

Some people think that reading is a boring hobby, but I believe it is the most useful one. Books give us knowledge, joy, and good company. A good book is like a true friend who never leaves us. I have learnt many good lessons from books. They teach me honesty, courage, kindness, and patience. I want to read books all through my life, and I hope every student will develop this wonderful hobby of reading.
