Paragraph on a Baishakhi Mela That I Visited

Baishakhi Mela is the biggest fair of Bangladesh, held on the first day of the Bengali New Year. Last year I visited the Baishakhi Mela in our village with my friends. The fair was held on a large open field beside the river. Early in the morning, we reached the field, and it was already full of people. Men and women wore colourful clothes, and the girls looked beautiful in red and white sarees. There were many shops in the fair. Some sold sweets, pitha, and toys, while others sold bangles, sarees, and wooden dolls. There was a great crowd near the merry-go-round, and the children were enjoying the rides. We ate panta rice with fried hilsa, the special food of the day. The nakshi katha, bamboo flutes, and clay dolls of the fair were very beautiful. In the afternoon, there were folk songs and jatra performances on the stage. I bought a flute and a few books for my little sister. The fair was full of joy, music, and laughter. I enjoyed the Baishakhi Mela very much, and the memory of the fair still makes me happy.

Last year I had the opportunity to visit the Baishakhi Mela arranged in the open field of our upazila, and the experience filled my heart with joy. The fair began in the morning, but the field was crowded even before sunrise. People of all ages gathered there wearing traditional dresses; the women wore white sarees with red borders, and the men wore pajamas and panjabis. The whole field looked like a sea of colours. There were hundreds of shops arranged in rows. Sweetmeat shops, pitha stalls, toy shops, and shops of bangles and cosmetics were full of customers. The most attractive part of the fair was the handicraft section, where nakshi katha, bamboo flutes, clay dolls, wooden horses, and cane furniture displayed the artistic skill of the rural people. The famous food of the day, panta rice with fried hilsa and green chillies, was served in every stall, and I enjoyed it with my friends. There was a big stage in the middle of the fair where folk singers sang Baul songs, and in the evening, a jatra party performed a traditional play. The merry-go-round and the balloon sellers made the children crazy with joy. I wandered through the whole fair, bought a bamboo flute and a hand-made nakshi katha for my mother, and returned home in the evening with a heart full of happiness. The Baishakhi Mela is not only a source of fun; it is the pride of our culture, and the fair I visited has left an unforgettable memory in my mind.
