Students’ Failure in English Paragraph

English is a very important language all over the world, yet many students of our country fail in this subject every year. There are many causes of this failure. The first cause is the wrong method of learning. Most students try to learn English grammar rules by heart without understanding them. They also neglect reading English storybooks and newspapers, so their vocabulary remains poor. Another cause is the fear of English. Many students think English is very difficult, and this fear makes them weak. Some students are careless and do not practise writing English regularly. The lack of good teachers in the village schools is also a cause. The result of failure in English is very serious. Students cannot get good marks, and some fail in the whole examination. In their future life, they cannot read English books or work in good jobs. The remedy is clear. Students should learn English with interest, practise speaking and writing every day, and read English books and newspapers. Teachers should teach English in an easy and interesting way. If the students and teachers both try sincerely, the failure in English will surely decrease.

English is an international language, and it is the key to higher education, good jobs, and modern knowledge. Yet a large number of students in Bangladesh fail in English in the public examinations every year, and this failure has become a national problem. The causes of this failure are many. The most important cause is the defective method of teaching and learning. In most schools, English is taught in Bengali, and students memorise grammar rules and answers without understanding the language. They do not practise speaking, listening, and writing in English, so the language never becomes natural to them. The second cause is the fear and hatred of English. Students think that English is the most difficult subject, and this negative attitude makes them weak before they even try. Thirdly, our students hardly read English storybooks, magazines, or newspapers, so their vocabulary and sense of the language remain very poor. The lack of trained teachers, the shortage of English books in the villages, and the habit of learning only for the examination also add to the problem. The consequences are serious. Students fail in the examination, lose their confidence, and cannot continue their higher studies. They are also deprived of good jobs in banks, offices, and multinational companies. To remove this problem, the method of teaching English must be changed. English should be taught in a communicative way, with more practice of speaking and listening, and students should be encouraged to read English books for pleasure. Teachers should be trained properly, and English should be taught from the primary level in an interesting manner. The learners themselves should overcome the fear of English and practise the language every day. English is not a hard subject; it is simply a skill that improves with regular practice. If students, teachers, and parents work together, the failure in English will be removed, and our students will be able to stand with the students of the whole world.
